Swing Speed โ Carry Distance Calculator
Enter your driver club head speed (in mph) and we'll estimate your carry distance for every club. Not sure of your speed? The average male amateur is about 93 mph.
Estimates based on aggregated launch-monitor averages, scaled from typical amateur carry at 93 mph. Handicap adjusts for typical strike efficiency, and total distance adds estimated rollout. Your real numbers depend on launch, spin, and strike, so measure them with a launch monitor for accuracy.
How this calculator works
It scales typical amateur carry distances (from our Swing Speed Chart) by the ratio of your driver speed to the 93 mph amateur baseline, then adjusts for strike efficiency based on your handicap, since better players carry it a bit farther at the same speed. Driver carry tracks at roughly 2.3 yards per mph of club head speed for a clean strike. The total column adds estimated rollout, which is largest for the driver and minimal for the wedges. It is a starting estimate: launch angle and spin can swing real carry by 10 to 20-plus yards either way, which is exactly why a personal launch monitor is worth it if you are serious about dialing in your numbers.
